As we continue our study in Genesis this summer, we come to the epoch-defining event of the book—the fall of Adam and Eve. In understanding the origin of sin, we’ll be better equipped to reckon with the deepest wound in the world—and in our own hearts.
You may have heard about the famous essay GK Chesterton wrote for The Times of London. The Times featured a collection of responses to the question, “What is wrong with the world?” To this question, Chesterton answered:
Dear Sir,
I am.
Yours,
G.K. Chesterton.
You see, Chesterton understood that Genesis 3 records more than history. It speaks of a personal, current reality: something is wrong with the world, and that “thing” is inside each and every human heart.
That is the bad news, but there is good news, too. Jesus has come to set right the world. Not in an abstract, theoretical way. At All Saints, there are stories upon stories of the Spirit healing marriages, tumors, addictions and various sin patterns. Jesus, the Second Adam, is reversing the fall—and he’s doing so here and now. Please join us Sunday in worship of our Savior!
Come and see.
