Jesus Calling

Jesus Calling

Jesus Calling

+Philip Jones

No, I am not talking about the popular devotional but the gospel for this Sunday Matthew 4:12-23. Here, Jesus calls Andrew and Peter and then James and John. These “call” stories are fascinating and Paul often refers to God’s call as well in his letters.

As you know, we are canceling Sunday services for obvious weather reasons. I hate to do that. It just seemed the right thing to do, even this early, given the best knowledge we have and knowing so many of you come from different parts of the city and beyond.

As a result, Sunday we will send out a 20 minute video of Dustin, Guy, and me sharing a few moments about how we experienced the call of Jesus in our personal lives and ministry vocation. I think you will enjoy hearing about that and you can examine how you have felt his call on your life. Or, maybe you are not sure you have heard his call to follow him. If after our talk you want to meet with any of us to explore how Jesus is revealing himself to you we are glad to listen, pray, and discuss.

This Sunday morning you will receive a separate email along with a link to our video discussion. I want to also encourage you to take a few minutes to do Morning Prayer. I've included the readings below. You can follow along with a recording of Morning Prayer here.
