Malcolm Guite spoke at our recent "Live the Mission” Anglican conference about the difference between apprehending and comprehending. Comprehending uses the mind and reason. To apprehend something is to receive and behold the wonder of what is happening. For example, this Sunday during our three services we will have an instructed communion service. These have been very popular over the years. It is a great time to invite people you know who may be looking for a church or wanting to know more about a Spirit filled liturgical service such as All Saints Dallas. So, there is some comprehending going on.

But, also, by God’s grace there's apprehending as well. There is wonder in beholding His presence. We invoke the Holy Spirit saying, “Come Holy Spirit” and invite His presence. We apprehend, sit in wonder, as well as comprehend what is taking place.

What is liturgy?

Why do we have so many Bible readings?

What is the meaning of Holy Communion?

Why do we pray together prayers that have been written from the past?

Why are children involved in our worship?

These are some of the questions we often hear. It is a joy to explain the different parts of the service before we do them so you have a better understanding of what is happening. It is our belief that throughout Christian history a Spirit filled liturgical church helps shape and form hearts and minds to be discipled into the way of Christ. We look forward to this time together, especially during Lent as the prayers and shape of the liturgy reflects this holy season.
